The deep charcoal color of this scarf is achieved by boiling the silk with indigo leaves. The color depends on the length of time it is in the dye. The sulaboul thread comes from the outer layer of the cocoon. It's the thickest and naturally softest thread. Only a small portion of the cocoon is Sulaboul, so sourcing this type of silk is more difficult for the weavers. Multiple trips to silk producers are needed to keep the weavers supplied.
